Facebook Offers Bounties to Those Who Uncover Data Abuse

As fallout continues from the Cambridge Analytica data scandal, Facebook's damage control campaign keeps chugging along. On the same day CEO Marking Zuckerberg is testifying before Congress, the embattled social network announced a new Information Abuse Bounty program to reward people for reporting third-party data misuse.

Facebook pledged to expand its bug compensation program to include data misuse a few weeks agone as function of its plan to crack down on platform corruption. The new Data Abuse Bounty program will award budgetary payouts to people "with first-mitt knowledge and proof of cases where a Facebook platform app collects and transfers people'southward data to another party to be sold, stolen, or used for scams or political influence."

There is no maximum payout, but in the past Facebook has paid out every bit much as $40,000 for loftier-touch problems reports.
